Out of utter boredom, one day in May 2020, I took an online cookie decorating class… a few days later, I lost my job due to the pandemic.
I turned to cookie decorating as a therapeutic and creative outlet to cope through all the life changes in the latter half of 2020… and little did I know just how much people LOVE sugar cookies! LOL
My first cookie passion project was to capture my favourite Toronto restaurants in cookie-form because not only did I love their food, but I loved the architecture of their storefronts. Then this whole cookie thing evolved into something I never imagined: working with some of my favourite brands, and checking off dream opportunities off my bucket list!
Frankly, sugar cookies aren’t my favourite baked good. If I had to choose a dessert to eat the rest of my life, it would be a nice fluffy yeast donut.
Baking has been a long-time hobby of mine and I pursued it more seriously in 2015 when I launched a passion project of a now defunct blog, Girl Bakes World, combining my love for all things travel + food. I started baking cakes, cupcakes and the like for friends & began Whisked By Alicia as a cake decorating venture.
In 2017, I was offered the opportunity to bake full-time and I left my dreadfully boring office job to create! I gained so much confidence, really perfected my recipes and set me up for cookie stardom, apparently. LOL
